What is an AI actor?
An AI actor is a generated person who delivers your script like a creator in a talking-head video, with no shoot, model release or casting call.
People also call them AI UGC actors or AI spokespeople. The crew casts one to fit your product and audience, or you describe one, and the producer films them in each scene, such as a car selfie on the way to work. Every ad from the AI ad generator has one.
Brief the video and describe who should be on camera
Say what you sell, then who your buyer would trust, such as an age range, style and setting, or let the crew cast from your brief.
Listen to voices
Play each voice's sample in the library before you pick.
Direct the delivery
Write [laughs] or [pause] into the script, and the voice performs it.
Keep the ones that work
Save an actor as a persona in your Space to keep their look and voice.
Personas: the same actor in every ad
A persona is a recurring actor with a fixed look and voice, kept in a Space, like a brand ambassador who is always available.
- Viewers start to recognize a face they see more than once.
- You can run one persona per audience, such as a student and a new parent.
- A new video starts from the persona, so you don't describe them again.
How does AI voiceover for ads work?
The voice reads your script, and the edit lines it up with the scenes, captions and sound. Short lines land fast, and a [pause] gives a beat before the reveal.
“I was so sure this wouldn't work. pause Then I tried it for a week. laughs Okay, I get it now.”Make this ad free
As a rule of thumb, a casual UGC voice reads about 2.5 words a second, so a 30-second ad holds 70 to 80 words. See the UGC script template.
| Use | Why it works | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Product demos | Explains while the product is shown. | Use real product photos. |
| Hook tests | One actor, ten first lines. | Change only the hook. |
| Explainers and FAQs | A friendly face answers a buyer question. | One question per video. |
| Review-style ads | A familiar format in a feed. | Never script it as a real customer. |
Software teams often use one for explainers and founder-style videos; see UGC video ads for SaaS.
Is it honest to use AI UGC actors?
Yes, if you treat them as actors, not customers. An AI actor can explain and show your product but shouldn't claim results it never had, and a testimonial ad should quote real customers.
In the US, the FTC's Endorsement Guides say an endorsement must reflect the endorser's honest opinion. Each ad platform also has its own rules for labeling AI content, so check them where you run ads. For the trade-offs, read AI UGC vs creator UGC.
Frequently asked questions
Are Probably's actors real people?
No. Every actor and voice in Probably is made with AI, and no real creator appears in your ad.
Can the actor hold my exact product?
Yes. Add photos of your product, and the actor holds and shows that product in the scene, not a lookalike.
Can I change the voice after the video is made?
Yes. Ask for another voice in plain words, and the crew remakes the parts that depend on it. See review and revisions.
Which is the best AI avatar video generator?
It depends on the video. For an actor reading to camera in a clean, studio-like shot, avatar-library tools fit; for ads that should look filmed by a creator on a phone, judge how real the footage looks, the choice of voices and whether you can keep one actor. See Probably vs HeyGen.
Is there a free AI avatar generator?
Several tools have a free tier. Probably's first draft, with an AI actor and voice, is free with a new account: 480p, up to 30 seconds, no credit card. See pricing for what comes after.
