Quickstart: Claude Code

Connect Claude Code to Probably's MCP server with OAuth or an API key, and make your first video from the terminal.

Claude Code connects to Probably's remote MCP server at https://studio.probably.co/api/mcp. Sign in with OAuth when you work at your machine, or use an API key where nobody can open a browser.

Connect with OAuth

Add the server:

Add Probably to Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http probably https://studio.probably.co/api/mcp

Then run /mcp in Claude Code, choose probably and authenticate. Your browser opens Probably's sign-in and a consent page, where you choose the organization, optionally one Space, and whether Claude Code may start paid work after you confirm it in the chat. You can revoke the connection at any time in Settings → Connections.

Or connect with an API key

Create a key in Settings → Connections (see Authentication) and pass it as a header:

Add Probably to Claude Code with an API key
export PROBABLY_API_KEY="prb_..."
claude mcp add --transport http probably https://studio.probably.co/api/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $PROBABLY_API_KEY"

Claude Code saves the header in its MCP configuration, so treat that file like the key itself. A key that may spend must be limited to one Space with a spend cap.

To check the key outside Claude Code, set the API's address and your key, then ask the server which tools it offers:

Your environment
export PROBABLY_API_URL="https://studio.probably.co"
export PROBABLY_API_KEY="prb_..."
mcp-tools.sh
#!/usr/bin/env bash
# Ask the MCP server which tools your API key is offered, as an MCP client
# set up with an Authorization header does.
set -euo pipefail

curl --silent --show-error --fail-with-body \
  --request POST "$PROBABLY_API_URL/api/mcp" \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $PROBABLY_API_KEY" \
  --header "Content-Type: application/json" \
  --header "Accept: application/json, text/event-stream" \
  --data '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/list"}'

Make your first video

Ask Claude Code in plain words:

  • "List my Probably Spaces." It calls list_spaces.
  • "Make a 15-second TikTok for our reef-safe sunscreen in the Trail brand Space." It calls prepare_video and shows you the preview.
  • "Go ahead." It calls confirm_spend, which Claude Code asks you to allow, since it starts paid work.
  • "Tell me when it's delivered." It calls wait_for_video until the video changes.

Every tool is in the MCP tool reference.
